Today we discussed what a model is and the history of various models of the atom.

HW:  Skim through pages 78-93 of your textbook.

25 March 2003

Today we finished our discussion of the atom and its parts.  We then moved on to calculating the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in an ion given its complete symbol.  Be sure to copy down the notes from someone if you weren’t here.  Also, for period 4 only:  I collected journals!  (15 points)

          HW:  Complete the practice problem(s).

Period 3:  Today we did some practice problems for calculating protons, neutrons, and electrons.  Ms. Gacek collected them for a grade (10 points).  We also learned some new vocabulary terms (ion, atom, isotope).   Ms. Gacek collected journals (15 points).

Period 4: Today we went to the AP assembly…hmmm…what AP classes will you be taking next year?

Period 3:  Today we nearly completed part one of our average atomic mass lab.  We also took a warm up quiz (20 points).  Ms. Gacek ended class by handed out gradesheets.

HW:  Get gradesheet signed by a parent or guardian.
